What happens when our community comes together? This question and more will be answered as residents gather together at one long, continuous table to share a meal and heartfelt conversation about their vision for the community. The Longest Table returns on Sunday, Oct. 27, at 5:30 p.m. along Duval Street between Madison Street and College Avenue.
“Amazing things happen when our community comes together which is why we are proud to host The Longest Table,” Tallahassee Mayor John Dailey said. “Residents from across the community will enjoy a meal while sharing their ideas and thoughts about how we can continue working together toward creating an even better, stronger Tallahassee now and for future generations.”
“Since 2015, The Longest Table has brought together thousands of County residents to have important conversations and build lasting connections,” said Leon County Commission Chairman Jimbo Jackson. “This year’s event will continue that tradition of asking us all how we can strengthen and move our community forward. So please pull up a chair and be ready to talk about the things that matter most to you.”
The Longest Table provides a safe, welcoming setting for residents of all ages, ethnicities and backgrounds to discuss community issues and foster stronger connections. Based on the success of this local effort, which began four years ago, other cities, universities and schools throughout the nation have been inspired to replicate this civic enrichment event in their communities.
The Longest Table, which seats 500 people, is hosted by the City of Tallahassee and Leon County Government in partnership with The Village Square and Leadership Tallahassee – a program of the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce.
