Protecting Leon County's Animals & Citizens

Mission Statement: Improve animal and human well-being through education, prevention, and enforcement programs and humane animal care and control services for the citizens and animals of Leon County.


Hours of Operation:


Office: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Closed holidays.


Field: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday, Emergency Calls Only


Animal Control Officers can be contacted after office hours, and on weekends and holidays, by calling the Leon County Sheriff Office at (850) 922-3300. An Animal Control Officer is available 24-hours a day, seven days a week, for emergencies in the unincorporated area of the County.


Emergencies are:

  • Rabies control and bite investigations.
  • Rescue of sick, diseased or injured domestic animals.
  • Investigation of cruelty to animals in which the animal is in immediate danger.
  • Dangerous or Aggressive animals.
  • Law enforcement assistance.
