A Weekend of Bicentennial Inspiration at the Jubilee Gospel Music Festival

In celebration of the Tallahassee-Leon County bicentennial, the Leon County Division of Tourism (Visit Tallahassee), in partnership with the Family Worship & Praise Center (FWPC) Community Development Corporation, proudly presents two days of unparalleled gospel music at The Jubilee Gospel Music Festival featuring The Clark Sisters, Yolanda Adams, Jekalyn Carr, Todd Dulaney, and Pastor Mike Jr. on March 22-23, 2024, at the Adderley Amphitheater in Cascades Park, 640 Suwannee St. Tickets are available at TheAdderleyAmphitheater.com. In addition to the ticketed events, the festival also features a free workshop, a youth panel discussion with award-winning rapper Dee-1, and the My Choir Rocks competition. 

Friday and Saturday Evening Concerts

On Friday, March 22, the powerful line-up features Lisa Knowles & The Brown Singers who released “The Evolution Continues,” reaching #6 on the Billboard Gospel Charts and earning two Stellar Awards. Also gracing the stage is the incomparable Yolanda Adams, a Grammy-winning powerhouse known for her soulful vocals and inspirational messages. Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter Todd Dulaney brings his distinctive sound with hits like “The Anthem” and “You’re Doing It All Again.” Opening performances will showcase talented local choirs, such as New Mt. Zion AME, the FAMU Gospel Choir, and The FWPC Praise Team.

On Saturday, March 23, the stellar lineup features The Clark Sisters, iconic trailblazers in contemporary Gospel music, with chart-topping albums like "The Return." Don't miss powerhouse Jekalyn Carr, with multiple Stellar Awards and Grammy nominations alongside the uplifting Pastor Mike, Jr., an 11-time BET Stellar Award winner who blends ministry and musical artistry with messages of resilience and triumph.

Concert tickets can be purchased at TheAdderleyAmphitheater.com. Tickets start at $35 for Friday’s concert and $40 for Saturday. Two-day tickets are $10 off and start at $65 plus taxes and service fees.

On March 23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Jubilee Gospel Music Festival features a free community day of family-friendly activities. The festival includes a workshop, a youth panel discussion with award-winning rapper Dee-1, vendors, food trucks, entertainment and an exhilarating My Choir Rocks competition where choirs and praise teams across the southeast region will perform in front of music industry professionals to see if they have what it takes to be heard on national radio airwaves.

The Business of Ministry Workshop

The Business of Ministry Workshop focuses on navigating the relationships between pastors, worship leaders, and music directors within a ministry setting. The event delves into the essential aspects of building, growing, and sustaining a music ministry. Attendees can expect insights into the challenges and difficulties inherent in this endeavor, as well as the positive outcomes that arise when approached in the right manner. The discussions will touch on the spiritual, logistical, and creative elements involved in fostering a thriving music ministry within a broader ministry context.

Youth Panel Discussion

A free Youth Panel Discussion featuring award-winning rapper Dee-1 will focus on how music influences impact today's youth and communities. Dee-1 is a world-renowned keynote speaker, educator, Nasir Jones Hip Hop Fellow at Harvard University and Tufts University Professor. From lyrics to culture, explore the repercussions and discuss solutions. Featuring insightful discussions led by expert panelists and special guests, the panel will delve into identifying harmful messages in music, understanding their effects, and finding ways to empower and uplift our youth. Attendees will hear insights on fostering resilience, promoting positive standards, and strengthening community connections as the panel addresses the challenges and shapes a brighter future for youth and their communities.

My Choir Rocks
Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 12 p.m.
Adderley Amphitheater at Cascades Park, 640 Suwannee St.
My Choir Rocks is a time when regional and local choirs will take the stage at the Adderley Amphitheater to share their gift of gospel music with the Tallahassee community. This event, hosted by Griff, a co-host of Get Up Mornings with Erica Cambell, will also include dance groups and drum lines. The afternoon will end on a high note with the Jubilee 200-Voice Choir made up of local school choirs in celebration of our community's bicentennial!
